That is what I learned long ago, long before I launched my own fashion company in the Chicago summers of my youth.

When I say the phrase "Chicago Summer," I am referring to my childhood and the fashion-centric need to look and wear my very best during the summer.

You should always look your best, but Chicago is very cold in the winter and spring, so people have to wear layers and thick overcoats. But during Chicago summers, I made it my personal ambition to be physically fit and wear the most fashion-forward-leaning clothes I had. 

Think about how the world simultaneously criticizes the social ills of the inner city while stylistically copying their music and fashion - especially in the summer. We see friends and acquaintances with new eyes during the summer after being bundled up all winter.

I refer to the fashion spirit of Rico Nasty’s “Fashion Week” to emphasize the importance of wearing your best in the summer.

You never know who you will meet at the summer events and parties you attend.

It's important to remember that your clothes are speaking for you long before you open your mouth. 

Here are some health and fashion tips that we at Pərsuasion want you to remember. We want you to make every summer the unveiling of your new fashion sense for the season and year.

Fresh and Glowing Skin

During the summer, you can wear fewer clothes but need to be strategic when considering where and how you wear them on your body. 

Why? Because your skin is more likely to be exposed in the summertime. If you are unhealthy and don't care for your skin, your heightened fashion sense will only shine a spotlight on your skin problems.

As a female, it's essential to have fresh and glowing skin while rocking your best attire. 

Stay hydrated and drink water when you're thirsty. Drinking water tightens the skin's elasticity. It reduces wrinkles and crow's feet as well. 

Develop a facial exfoliating and cleansing routine. Moisturize your skin daily, and wear a hat or shawl in hot weather to reduce uneven tan lines and eventual skin leathering. 

White Painted Toes and Open-Toe Heels

Remember, over 90% of human conversation is nonverbal. So, you want your fashion sense to exclaim your style with multiple exclamation points aesthetically. 

The optimum way to accomplish this is to encourage others to check out your fashion and accessories from head to toe.

Wear your cutest and sexiest open-toe heels. Always remember to color and style coordinate them with your outfit.

The color white implies sophistication. Paint your toenails white and try to match it with an article of clothing. The color white matches well with dark colors and brighter hues and visually pop in an outfit during the summer.

Sneakers and Dresses

The classic summer look taken for granted by those who don't know how to coordinate it well enough is the sneaker and dress look. Wearing sneakers and dresses enables a great fashion contrast of two styles that shouldn’t work together but does.

Instead of wearing an ankle-covering, frumpy maxi dress, wear a cute mini dress. You will be able to show the fresh and glowing skin of your toned legs and contrast the colors of your dress with your sneakers.

Try wearing dark-colored or earth-toned colored dresses contrasted with white sneakers. White sneakers truly go with everything. Otherwise, ensure that your sneakers and dress have at least one unifying color if you opt for non-white sneakers.

Be imaginative with the dresses that you match with your sneakers. Wear stripes, prints, patterns, bold primary colors, or a tennis-style mini-dress - use your sneakers and legs to draw attention to your dress and fashion sense.
